Procedural and Granular Sound

These sounds were created using procedural and granular synthesis methods, utilizing various (and often unrelated) “seed” soundfiles, algorithmic pitch and tempo parameters, and multiple concurrent grain voices.

Implemented in Max/MSP.

Sound design for animated short film, with a focus on synthesized/manipulated sounds in a sci-fi setting.

Making use of custom Max/MSP patches, granular sound manipulation, and realtime sound generation, the aim was to integrate all sound elements in a coherent, flowing soundtrack with musical and rhythmical properties.

An interactive music generator, utilizing eight instrumental tracks, from which loops of semi-random positioning and duration are initialized and controlled by the user.

A basic volume mixer is also included.

Coded in Lingo/Adobe Director, 2004.
